Hey guys!  I am so excited about this post!  I recently had the opportunity to shoot at 5 Pointz in Queens.  It’s an awesome space where graffiti artists display their work. How amazing in this incredible street art? I was blown away by the talent displayed at 5 Pointz! Read more about 5 Pointz HERE.

For my shoot I chose a funky, urban inspired Fall look. Yes, it’s finally cool in NYC!! Thank God! Leopard was the theme for the day, and I took advantage of the crisp weather to break out my leopard calf hair boots and bag.  The hot pink coat was the finishing touch- I have been WAITING to wear this coat all Summer! Details on what I am wearing, and where to buy them are below. 😉

But, first- here is a video I made showcasing the artists’ work, and what I wore.  Enjoy!
XOXO

Currently Craving- Backpacks (Not just for school anymore)

Not just for school anymore.........

Not just for school anymore………

I have to admit- I’ve been kinda obsessed with backpacks lately.  It’s a style of bag that I literally have not worn since high school.  Even in college, (hello Fordham University!), I wore messenger bags, and large handbags.  Never backpacks. Never.  Backpacks were for kids.  At least that is how I felt at the time.

Fast forward to 2013, and all you see lately are designer backpacks. There are backpacks with wild prints, backpacks with studs, backpacks with fringe, and even backpacks with other accents that definitely set this generation of backpacks apart from the plain, nylon bags we wore in our teen years. The choices are endless.

What does it all mean? Well, for one it means I think it’s time for me to break my ban on backpacks, and maybe try out this style again- as an adult.  And second, it means I am going to have a hard time deciding which awesome backpack to try out.  And, so will you.  But you are in luck, here I have compiled my list of the hottest, chicest, and most sophisticated backpacks I could find.  Click the name of the bag below to see where to buy them! And tell me in the comments if you will try out this style!  I know I will! 😉

1) Stela 9 Shiva Backpack– I love the bohemian vibe!
2) Cambridge 13″ Tartan Satchel Backpack– Adorable backpack version of the famous Cambridge satchel!
3) Oliveve Dottie Convertible Backpack– Love the embossed leather, and tassels! So chic!
4) One by Bed Stu Shiloh Leather Backpack- Love the rich, chocolate leather and pocket details!

SECOND ROW- Left to right

1) Jericho Backpack– I am really in love with the distressing, pocket detailing, and beautiful blue color of this backpack!  It comes in other colors too! Check it out!
2) Cleobella Gita Backpack– Who doesn’t love fringe?  This bag is chic enough to wear day or night- and especially to a concert or festival! This bag screams Summer! Love!
3) Rebecca Minkoff Logan Backpack– I have to admit I have been obsessing over this one for months.  I couldn’t decide between black, or this almond color- but I think this buttery brown leather has won me over!
4) New Look Leopard Backpack- Well, for fans of my blog, it’s no secret I LOVE leopard! So, when I found this ultra chic, roomy leopard backpack for under $40, I jumped on it! It’s the perfect dash of animal print, in an easy to carry style.  What’s not to love! GREAT PRICE TOO!

Dreaming of warmer days….My Miami Photos!!!!

Miami

MiamiMiamiMiamiMiami

MiamiI finally had a chance to gather together my photos from my recent trip to Miami.  The weekend was incredible, and the occasian was my best friend Debbie’s bachlorette weekend. We went to South Beach, and the weather, food, and beach was amazing. With the tempeture being so insanely cold in NYC lately, these photos definitely keep me dreaming of warmer days! The thing I love about South Beach is that you can’t wear enough bright neon colors, metallics, or animal prints. “The bolder….the better” is always my motto while there. As you can see from the photos, my friends don’t shy away from color either.   I hope you enjoy the photos!!! Try the Miami look with the links below!

Trending for Spring: Bright and Colorful Statement Jewelry

Hot Jewel encrusted items for Spring

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am jewelry obsessed. No outfit feels complete for me without a eye catching bracelet, or statement making necklace.  You can totally update your look, or make an old dress feel new again with the right accessories.  With Spring coming, (soon I hope!), I am seeing more and more jewel centered pieces.  I love the organic feel of a huge stone ring, or a bold necklace with multicolored stones.  It makes me think of the warmer weather, and definitely brightens my mood.  I have put together a collection of current items that I am lusting after.  I recently discovered Katie Dean Jewelry, and I have included some of her gorgeous creations on this list.  I love her use of different shapes and colors in her pieces, and I especially love that most of her bracelets are stackable. Ahhh, Winter in NYC……..it can be gloomy, misty, foggy, and dark at times can’t it? But no matter how dark the skies become, there is something so gorgeous about the buildings, architecture, and design of the ciy that always stands out.  Case in point, the beautiful surroundings on this particular gloomy day in February. And, just so you know, it was freezing! I stayed warm by layering my Zara denim shirt over a J Crew t shirt, and my bright cobalt Marc Jacobs coat kept me both warm, and happy with a needed pop of color.  I last wore this gorgeous coat in THIS POST.  (You can buy a Similar coat HERE) I carried my orange clutch from ASOS for an added pop of color.  I have a always loved blue and orange together. This clutch was last seen in THIS POST, paired with denim.  (Similar clutch HERE.) The fringe suede boots are Nine West. They were on sale, and sold out, but you can buy a similar style HERE.  Stay warm!

Stylish sweaters to stay chic in Winter
I love kitschy sweatshirts. There is something about a sweater, or a sweatshirt being really over the top that suddenly makes it cool. At least in my book.  I am seeing more and more of these eye catching, and outlandish designs lately. Some of them remind me of things I have seen my grandma wear, but I think that is why I like them. They are unexpected.  They say something.  They shake things up. They make a statement.  And that statement is, I’m not afraid to be bold. I am not afraid to wear a parrot on my chest, or a deer, or a skull.  Plus, they are really warm, and it’s pretty cold outside.  Score. 😉
